The seating arrangements for the Kartavya Path this year, however, were changed, leaving only 45,000 seats available.

On Republic Day 2023, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt, will be India’s chief guest as both countries celebrate their 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

As planned, the Republic Day 2023 parade will start at 10 a.m. The parade moves from Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate and then on to Red Fort via the Kartavya Path.
How Is Chief Guest/Foreign Dignitaries Chosen On Republic Day?
Foreign dignitaries are typically selected as chief guests for India’s Republic Day celebrations based on several factors, including the country’s strategic and economic relationship with India, shared values and interests, and recent bilateral interactions. The Indian government invites a head of state or government from a friendly country to be the chief guest for the parade. The selection of the chief guest is done by the President of India and the Prime minister in consultation with their foreign affairs advisor and the Ministry of External Affairs.
The chief guest is usually from a country with which India wants to strengthen its ties and which will help to boost trade and commerce. The chief guest is also selected based on the country’s political stability, economic growth and its relations with India. The country of the chief guest also changes every year and not repeated within a short period of time. This is done to maintain cordial relations with as many countries as possible.
When Is Flag Hoisting On Republic Day 2023?
The flag-hoisting event is set to begin at 8 am on Republic Day 2023. The parade will start at 9:30. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Amar Jawan Jyoti as usual. Later, the flag will be raised by President Droupadi Murmu.

How To Book Republic Day 2023 Parade Ticket Online?
Tickets for the Republic Day Parade 2023 can be bought online via the Ministry of Defence’s web portal: www.aamantran.mod.gov.in.
- Visit the Ministry of Defence’s web portal to purchase tickets. Log in or create an account.
- Fill in details like name, father’s or husband’s name, birthdate, cellphone number, and permanent residence. Fill in the OTP.
- Choose the event you wish to attend: FDR Republic Day Parade, the Republic Day Parade, the Beating the Retreat (rehearsal, FDR, or ceremony).
- Fill out each attendee’s information and upload original Photo ID identification.
- Complete your payment and buy the tickets.
Note: One contact number/account can be used to book a total of ten tickets only. Authorities will scan each ticket’s distinctive QR code at the parade’s location.

How To Buy Republic Day 2023 Parade Ticket
Offline?
Tickets for the Republic Day 2023 parade can also be purchased from the five places that have been set up with ticket booth counters. The tickets can be purchased offline from:
- Sena Bhawan (near gate no. 2)
- Shashtri Bhawan (near gate no. 3)
- Jantar Mantar (main gate)
- Pragati Maidan (gate no. 1)
The Parliament House reception is where lawmakers can purchase their tickets. Only after the presentation of an actual photo ID card the tickets will be sold.
Timings
The tickets will be sold in the morning (10:00 am–12:30 pm) and in the late afternoon (02:00 pm – 04:30 pm).
Guidelines
- Only those who have a valid ticket may accompany children over the age of five.
- Tickets holders are expected to take their seats at 9 am and not leave until the president, vice president, and prime minister have departed.
- Invitees are asked to refrain from bringing any of the following items: bags, briefcases, eatables, radios, pagers, tape recorders, cameras, binoculars, digital diaries, power banks, mobile chargers, headphones, i-pad, laptops, wireless communication gadgets, etc., remote-controlled car lock keys, firearms, ammunition, thermos flasks, water bottles, cigarettes, matchsticks, any flammable or sharp-edged thing.
This year’s Republic Day Parade will feature several new events, such as tribal dance performances, horse shows, martial arts events, and more. This year will also feature the biggest-ever drone show in India, with 3500 Made in India drones lighting up the sky over Raisina Hill.
